Build a Target Investor List When Fundraising

By February 14, 2020 No Comments

Fundraising is a process. Despite what you may see in a movie, most startups don’t magically have millions of dollars thrown their way. One common mistake a lot of entrepreneurs make is spending too much time with investors that would never invest in their company. Most venture capitalists publish their investment thesis. This usually includes both the verticals they are interested in and the stage at which they invest.

At 1:07: I’ll walk through the three types of investors you should have on your target list.

Before an entrepreneur starts to fundraise they should do their research on venture funds and build a target list of investors that are; their dream investors, good fits stage & vertical wise, or generalists that have invested around your vertical in the past. An entrepreneur can waste a ton of time pitching investors that just aren’t a fit. Doing some research upfront improves your process in the long run.
